AKAGI RITSUKO
She is the lead technician in NERV. She participated in the development of EVA.
Like her mother, Naoko she was also in love with Gendou, but only to realize
she could never compete with Rei for Gendou’s affection. Furthermore, her mother
died because of Rei adding fuel to the fire. She could not stand the fact that
she was no match for a "dummy" without a soul, therefore she destroyed the core
of dummy system in episode 23.
Ritsuko was certain that unit EVA-00 tried to kill her. Why? What role did Ritsuko
play to cultivate the unit’s hostility towards her? Perhaps it was a reflection
of her hatred towards the pilot (Rei). That was one of the many unanswered questions
in the 26 episodes.
